Developing Your Hybrid Course

This course begins on the date listed and runs for 2 weeks.It is asynchronous. This workshop includes an overview of hybrid learning and provides strategies to plan, design, and develop hybrid course components. The workshop models a design thinking framework to map a hybrid course blueprint.
Course Outline: 1 - Understand: Teaching a Hybrid Course 2 - Define: Mapping Hybrid Course Elements 3 - Sketch: Designing a Hybrid Course Blueprint 4 - Decide: Hybrid Learning Content, Classrooms, and Technology 5 - Prototype: Developing Hybrid Course Components in Canvas 6 - Validate: Hybrid Course Checklist and Certification Participation Expectations: This is a 2-week moderated workshop, with an instructional designer as the course facilitator. Participants are expected to attend online synchronous webinars (recordings will be available for those who cannot) and submit micro assignments each week. Active participants have the benefit to schedule a 1-1 consultation with an instructional designer throughout the workshop period. Improving Your Online Course

This is an online workshop facilitated by a QM facilitator. It is designed for faculty who already teach an online or blended course. The “Improving Your Online Course” workshop explores the Quality Matters (QM) Rubric and provides a framework to improve the quality of online courses. Participants use the QM Rubric to review their own courses and develop a course improvement plan.
The content is based on the 21 essential (3 point) Specific Review Standards of the Quality Matters Rubric. Participants come away with a plan for course improvement so you must have an existing online or blended course you plan to improve in order to enroll in this workshop.
To receive a certificate of completion for the workshop, you must complete all activities.

The Center for Teaching and Learning workshop is a three-week, fully-facilitated, 100% online experience complete with learning materials, activities, and assignments with actual due dates and grades. You'll experience what it's like to be a real online student (because you are!) as you learn what it takes to be an effective online teacher (or facilitator.) During the workshop, you can expect to explore the myths and realities of facilitating an online course, discover what constitutes effective online facilitation, and develop a "work plan" of tasks to do and strategies to use when facilitating an online course.
